Ive travelled all over the country on business and at leisure, and when on a leisure trip, i like to stay somewhere that’s a little more than average. The Villare did not disappoint. Id read the trip advisor reviews after booking this hotel, and had a mild panic, but not one to really care about other people’s opinions, i went in with open eyes. The main feature for me was location and somewhere to lay my head. For the cost, i considered myself as having a little bargaining power if the room wasn’t satisfactory. Some of the past reviews stated that its right above the main taxi rank, and was fraught with noise. I parked in the shopping centre car park round the corner, as advised and made my way over to the hotel. (Look for exit signs for the mini golf or st. peters square). I got the lift up to reception which is located on the top floor, in a spacious bar with a balcony overlooking the big wheel and Christmas market. I asked if iI could have a room at the rear of the hotel, just in case the noise got out of hand, but my love of people watching after a few beers in the bar later that evening made me regret that decision. No trouble, mainly students wandering back to their accommodation. The Room was large and more than adequate for my needs, with a large bathroom with shower. The heating was good and even in the cold weather with the window open i was very comfortable. There were a couple of small details with the room that could have been improved upon, one minor maintenance issue with the shower head having a little leak, that i forgot to mention. That shows how minor it was. The other is that the pillows weren’t to my liking, as i like a soft but supportive pillow, and the ones in the room were very firm, this is totally subjective to me, but on mentioning I recommended some firm box pillows as an alternative and was advised that this was being looked at. I had drinks in the roof bar, and after 10 this is for patrons only, so had the place to myself.

No breakfast at this hotel which doesn’t bother me as I’m not a morning eater. Normal hotel was fully booked so had to find an alternative. Balcony is great addition to get fresh air fridge and safe in room. Unfortunately broken hangers so unable to hang clothes didn’t ask for a replacement. Reception on check in was a bit rude and probably needs some training for customer service. Smart tv in room meant I could watch Netflix and BBC iplayer

The bed was very comfortable. The room was decorated very well. There was a fridge. Safe. Telephone and plenty of tea and coffee. Large flat screen television. Double shower plenty of hot water. Extremely clean. The staff were extremely helpful and polite and always smiled. Very friendly.

Valerie

Good budget hotel ,located overlooking high cross square , within walking distance of the Cathedral and Richard 3rd centre. Within 5 metres of a Wetherspoon pub for a great breakfast at cheap prices and good beer. Room was very clean plenty of hot water in shower.

Peter

room was spacious, the biggest tv I've had at any hotel, tv user interface worked well and nice to have streaming services, plenty of storage spacious, modern bathroom, air conditioning/heating, bed was comfortable, room was reasonably quiet
